Emily Irene VanCamp was originally keen on becoming a professional dancer but after a visit to her sister Katie's set in the Ladies Room, she became more interested in acting. Her acting career began when she began taking classes. Also, she got guest spots on shows from her home country of Canada. She was a part of as a guest on several shows in Are You afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp had a career breakthrough when he was cast as the an actor in the role of Sam Dolan on the WB horror mystery show Glory Days. Even though the show was receiving favorable reviews, the show unfortunately was cancelled after only nine episode due to its poor ratings. Despite her May 12, 1986 birthday her actress was offered a role on Everwood on its set as Amy Abbott. Her part in the movie was rewarded with 4 Teen Choice Awards nominations and the Young Artist Award.
